As a kid Jim received Classical Guitar Lessons from Joe Marciniak in Pasadena Md. His first Rock influences were AC/DC Kiss, Ozzy and even his fathers oldies records. In later teens Jim received Lessons from Glenn Campbell formerly of Alive and Kicking. Metal lead guitar heavily influenced by the Late Randy Rhoads. Other Favorites include Eddie Van Halen Hendrix and Page and Clapton. The "Sloe" part of his Moniker influenced by Claptons "Slow Hand" moniker.
His first band in 1988 was Muskrat Stew/ AKA 70s 80s rock playing mainly at EJ buggs Fells point Md. They had some nice Original Songs still played today. Jim has also played with bands like The Ryde, Cocked in Loaded, Catch 22, Majestic, Odyssey, Shakedown Cruise, 4Play, The Rivals, SloeJim3 , Wicked Rosie, Undercover Angel focusing on Classic and Hard Rock. Some top 40 as well.
Jim Matteo a.k.a. SloeJim Acoustic got his start in 2001 When Catch 22 disbanded. His Acoustic style and Unique performance crafts a Cover song to recreation. Covering artists from the last 4 decades, He has played in venues through Maryland from docks to casinos /Graduation and Weddings Aiming to please as DJ with the Acoustic as an opener.
